White County Medical Center

White County Medical Center is a 245-bed comprehensive healthcare facility specializing in preventative, curative, supportive and rehabilitative services. The hospital is nearing the completion of a $ 17.6 million expansion and renovation project that more than doubled the size of the existing facility in 1998.

The mission of White County Medical Center is to provide the best healthcare possible at reasonable prices. As a not-for-profit hospital, White County medical center admits anyone regardless of his ability to pay. In 1999, charity healthcare, unreimbursed services, and community benefits exceeded $10, 390, 821.

The new four story north wing houses a state-of-the-art rehabilitation unit, a new fixed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and a computerized tomography (CT) Spiral Twin imaging scanner. Also the new expansion is the home of a cutting edge cardiac catheterization labs.

In addition White County Medical Center is home to the new Edwin Hubach Conference Center complete with the latest audio-visual technical capabilities. The center will be used for educational activities for associates, community groups and nursing students of area universities and technical programs.

A state-of-the-art rehabilitation center occupies the second floor, with twelve private patient rooms for rehabilitation.

To meet the need of the shift in patient and family desire, 24 new private patient rooms were added during the expansion and the hospital also converted the semi-private rooms to private. A healing garden waiting area adds a comfortable atmosphere to an otherwise stressful period for most.

White County Medical Center has two convenient locations for outpatient surgeries. The Outpatient Care center located within the hospital and a freestanding Outpatient Surgery located on the first floor of the new White County Surgery Center directly behind Searcy Medical Center at 710 Marion Drive.

The hospital provides senior health support through its Prime Times program for adults 55 and older. The Sports Medicine Program assists area schools, athletes and those interested in an active life. The Healthworks program offers industry and business customers occupational services.

The New Life Center carefully blends our tradition of the highest quality care with the warm, personal birthing experience you deserve. Large comfortable childbirth suites allow most mothers to remain in the same room throughout labor, delivery and recovery when available. The New Life Center is equipped with a state-of-the art computerized fetal monitoring system and with newborn hearing screenting equipment. Childbirth classes, sibling classes, breastfeeding classes, infant CPR, parenting classes and others for those planning to deliver at White county Medical Center.

Emergency-trained physicians staff the Emergency Room twenty-four hours a day. The nursing staff and ER technicians are certified in trauma nursing, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and pediatric advanced life support (PALS). The Emergency Room includes a major trauma room, four major medical rooms, nine minor treatment rooms and an expanded waiting and admissions area.
