Pinnacle Mountain State Park
The dramatic cone-shaped silhouette of Pinnacle Mountain is one of
Central Arkansas' most recognized landmarks. Conveniently located just
outside of Little Rock on State Highway 10, Pinnacle Mountain State Park
has become one of Central Arkansas' most popular day-use areas. At the
base of the mountain, amid the lushly wooded rolling terrain are shaded
picnic tables, grills, bathrooms, a playground, and a covered pavilion.
A large sporting field for softball, volleyball, soccer, and other sports
is also located at the base of the mountain.
Visitors to the park can enjoy the beautiful setting for picnics and
group activities, or they can enjoy the many trails of the park. The
most spectacular trail leads from the recreation area to the peak of the
mountain, providing an impressive view of Little Rock and the rivers
surrounding the park. For those with less stamina, there is a paved
trail running along the flood plain, offering a pleasant, shady walk
through the cypress trees among the birds. There are over 40 miles of
trails within Pinnacle Mountain State Park and visitors are sure to find
one that meets their interests and ability. The Big Maumelle River and
the Little Maumelle River provide ample opportunity for fishing,
canoeing, and boating. Boat ramps have been located at convenient
locations.
The park also maintains a Visitor's Center and Museum. Many special
events are held in the Visitor Center and the park's outdoor areas such
as the Environmental Education Pond and the Arkansas Arboretum. A
calendar of events is available upon request from park staff.
